- Welcome back Preschool families!
I hope you all had a restful Christmas break. This week we are going to be reading “The Mitten” and incorporating a circle time activity to go with it. The activity will consist of the students putting all of the animals in order on a poster, just like they crawled into the mitten during the book. Our craft for that day is going to be lacing a large mitten together and having the students color the animals to put into the mitten. At our discovery table we are going to practice drawing our letters, and shapes in ‘snow’. Our focus letter this week is U.
Next week we are going to start working a lot with snow and ice. We have two special circle time activities, one of which involves getting ice to stick to a piece of string, and the other is erupting snow. Our sensory bin is going to be full of ice and water. The students are going to learn how to chip or melt the ice blocks down and discover what I have frozen inside the ice. One of my favorite crafts this week is our name snowman craft. The students get to create a snowman where each snow ball is a letter of their name. This is a great activity because once I have it posted on the wall; the students can determine who has the longest name, and who has the shortest name. Thursday, we are going to be getting a little bit messy! The kiddos are going to be painting with ice. Besides the frozen fingers, the artwork looks pretty awesome! Our focus letter this week is V.
- The last day of Preschool is going to be Tuesday, June 12th.
