- Last week the children had the opportunity to let our four butterflies go in the courtyard. This is always a special moment for the kids because they have watched them since they were babies. Now we have 11 new caterpillars to raise. They are very close to going up in their chrysalises. My hope is they will be butterflies by the end of the school year so the children can each have one to let go. We also have some new crazy critters in our class! We have two leaf bugs, and 3 freshly hatched ladybugs. The children will be able to watch the ladybugs form into their adult bodies.
This week we are taking a look at the ocean and what may or may not live in that environment. During circle time we are going to classify land vs. water animals, along with learning about some crazy looking ocean animals. One of the readings we are doing this week is “Rainbow Fish.” I personally love this story because it corresponds with many activities and crafts. The children are especially enjoying our shape booklets. We are learning our shapes with different materials.
On a separate note, Preschool graduation is coming up quickly. We only have 9 more class days. We are going to have a ceremony where all parents are welcome to watch their little's graduate. I will keep you updated when I have more details. - Reminders:
